A cleric from Lagos says, "I invited Pasuma, Portable to win souls." December 8, 2023

Aderemi Dabiri, the founder of a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Lagos State, stated that he invited street-hop artist Portable and Fuji singer Alabi Pasuma in order to attract new members. 

The cleric revealed this in a video in which he was shown speaking to a task force delegation from the church that had come to his parish to meet with him. Recently, the White Garment Church faced harsh criticism for bringing secular performers to its praise night celebration. 

Dabiri disclosed that the two artists' selection was made with the intention of drawing out the outcasts in the community.

He claimed that the pattern of evangelism had increased his church membership while also working well for him over the years. 

"This is not the first time we have invited guest artists," he stated. I can provide you with several examples of how we have been doing it without any issues. We are unable to approach people selling alcoholic beverages or palm wine and ask them to accept Jesus Christ.

 They are going to hit me with a bottle if I don't use wisdom. I therefore came up with a plan to welcome them into the church. "I also observed that there are a few well-known boys who agitate the local government, start cults, and generally cause trouble in the community.

 How can we draw their notice in the hopes that they would reconsider,I wonder? They have defeated us when we have gone to locations where they are. I was able to convert the majority of the new members of my church through that pattern.

Dabiri said he would rather invite secular musicians and criticized some gospel ministers for being impolite. "Some gospel preachers are impolite. 

Some of them react badly if you speak with them, but Pasuma sounded courteous and agreed with my position when I called him that day,” he said.

 In response to the task force team's concerns regarding the intense controversy sparked by the development, Dabiri stated he had no intention of withdrawing the invitation

He clarified, though, that he would curtail the performers' excesses, particularly Portable's. "We'll tell Portable to sing gospel music instead of vulgar songs and not to dye his hair," he declared.

 We will also warn him not to climb the speakers or wear inappropriate clothing. We'll also let him know not to let his boys smoke in this area.

 Nearly thirty military personnel have been invited to staff the event. In order to make the Celestial Church proud, the cleric also made an appeal to the church's global membership to support his vision.
